Barça Set to Play Inaugural Fixture at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday
Barça revealed they are set to host at the still-under-construction Camp Nou on Saturday. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league two and a half years following their departure so building work could begin.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees are permitted inside under the licence granted. After final construction, it will accommodate almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. Barça announced recent additions comprise an updated entryway for the team plus modern locker rooms.
Stadium Testing
Barcelona held a fan-accessible workout at the Camp Nou in early November. They mentioned approval is being pursued by UEFA to play their next home Champions League game facing Eintracht in December in the renovated venue. Their recent games have been held at the Olympic Stadium.
