Dominant Sabalenka Claims Back-to-Back WTA Player of the Year Accolades.

Aryna Sabalenka celebrating a point — The Belarusian player finished the tour with an outstanding twenty-three to three Grand Slam win-loss record.

The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight year.

The twenty-seven-year-old captured four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – which included retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.

A Year of Dominance

Throughout the year, Sabalenka reached a tour-best nine championship matches, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The Belarusian also claimed victory at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the entire year as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

This past summer, she became the first player to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Historic Numbers

Sabalenka finished the season with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and collected a record £11m in tournament winnings.

She earned almost eighty percent of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.

On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "help bring women's tennis to a new level".

Additional WTA Award Honorees

Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, was voted after taking a 13-month break after the birth of her first child and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.
Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko picked up the award after starting the season positioned outside the world's top 300 and climbing to the eighteenth spot.
Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after capturing their second Grand Slam title together.
Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after reaching five finals.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz took home three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third consecutive time.
