Vehicles in Germany's City Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities reported they were notified by a man who found a automobile in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Roughly fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.

Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.

The liquid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they stated.

Law enforcement then located many other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials state initial examinations suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.

City officials announced they were trying "to solve the incident" and have requested to the public for tips.

An important representative said the vandalism made him without words and needed to be addressed promptly.

"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a assailant aiming at people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
